01The morning
It starts with a smell.
In our house, every festival began with that smell. Aai at the stove before anyone else was awake, besan turning slowly golden, the whole kitchen warm with ghee before the sun was even up. Laddus for the plate, chivda for the four o'clock chai, karanji pinched shut because guests were on their way.

02The name
Gharguti. Godwa.
Gharguti Godwa is that morning, kept alive. Gharguti, of the home. Godwa, sweetness, the kind you taste and the kind you feel. It is the plate set out when someone visits, the faral tin opened a dozen times through Diwali week, the parcel tied up for a child who lives in another city now.

03The beginning
It began with ukdiche modak.
It began in 2020, with ukdiche modak. The first orders came from friends, then from their friends, and slowly the circle grew, one shared dabba at a time. Our reason was simple then and it has not changed. In a market full of shortcuts, the real Maharashtrian taste is getting harder to find, and we wanted to keep the homemade kind alive, the one that brings back the taste of your own house.
